Tattle Tale Tuesday

I am going to tattle on my Mom today. (Who else do I have?)

1. The house is messy and she needs to clean it up. She cleared off this stool just for me. From here I can see all the fabric bits that are scattered about the floor in her sewing room. I think the rug-sucking monster is needed.

2. She doesn't know everything. When Mom was out with Mr Karate on Sunday, she saw these at Russo's and she doesn't know what they are. She says Google and Wikipedia aren't being much help. DKM? Anybody?

Well fooey on you Millie. Who are you to say that your Mom needs to clean anything up? Is she happy? Is she healthy? Is she loved? So who cares about a bit of untidiness every now and then? Get a perspective on things Miss M!!

Usually kitties don't ask for the rug-sucking monster to make an appearance...things must be bad if you want it to come out - LOL!

No idea what those things are...olives?

My mommy is clueless on the thingies as well . . . hopefully the GREAT DKM will know!

I won't even go into detail on how badly our house needs cleaned . . . it was bad enough before the blurp, but now . . . *sigh*

Don't feel bad Millie, our mom has been really bad lately and our house is a disaster right now! A few fabric bits sounds pretty good to us!

And we have no idea what that thing is - we decided to try and search too, and it said it was a poisonous plant - which makes me think that can't be the correct name or something. We will be back to see if anyone figures it out.

Millie, we can't BELIEVE you actually said your Mom NEEDS to use the rug-sucking monster! Are you ok?

We don't look at the floor around Mom's sewing area! We know it is a mess.

Let us know if you find out that those are!

Herba mora is Nightshade:

Botanical Name: Solanum nigrum
A.K.A (Common Names): Black Nightshade, Petty Morel, Garden Nightshade, Nigrum

Bodily Influence: Antiperiodic; Antiphlogistic; Diaphoretic; Diuretic; Emollient; Febrifuge; Narcotic; Purgative; Sedative.

The whole plant is antiperiodic, antiphlogistic, diaphoretic, diuretic, emollient, febrifuge, narcotic, purgative and sedative. It is harvested in the autumn when both flowers and fruit are upon the plant, and is dried for later use. Use with caution, see notes above on toxicity.

The leaves, stems and roots are used externally as a poultice, wash etc in the treatment of cancerous sores, boils, leucoderma and wounds.

Extracts of the plant are analgesic, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and vasodilator. The plant has been used in the manufacture of locally analgesic ointments and the juice of the fruit has been used as an analgesic for toothaches.

Oh dear, I obviously missed to solve the riddle by not posting my comment yesterday… The reason why I didn’t comment was that I re-read your post before I hit enter and realized that you bin to Wikipedia and I was confused because Wikipedia would have given you the answer… Now I know we have different Google habits.

What “Sandy O” left out is that all the plants in the nightshade species are poisonous buggers in one way or another, even the ones I think ends up on your kitchen table… And they are? Potatoes, tomatoes and egg plants… The egg plant is said to be the nicest one. It’s mostly “guilt by association” because it belongs to the nightshade family. The tomato is under discussion. Some scientists say that green tomatoes are bad, some say they are not… Ripe tomatoes are ok. The bad boy is the potato. It always contains small amounts of solanine, but that’s not the problem. The problem occurs when the potato turns green. The rule is always throw away a green potato, newer just cut the green part off. The solanine spikes in the whole potato when it’s under “stress”.

The species has other “useful” plants worth mentioning… Datura stramonium. Anyone, who has read Jean M Auels ice age porno “The Clan of The Cave Bear”, knows what I’m talking about… Tobacco, not the best plant originating from the New World. Atropa Belladonna, Deadly Nightshade, very useful. It’s the plant, which gave us “atropine”. (Popular European plant poisoning to…)
