Family Friday

These are my favorite little sticky people. They are my fairy odd-kids and they live over at Monty's house, but they are just as much mine as they are his. I love them.

Mom does too.

Thursday Thoughts

You know your Mom's in trouble when it's 7:45 in the morning, and she's chasing you around with the little camera so she can get a picture to put on your blog. This is how it is at my house, when my Mom has just finished a big project. The project is finished, but the house is a huge mess. There is a pile of clean laundry on the sofa waiting to be folded. The bed has not been made in several days. There are dirty dishes everywhere in the kitchen, the dining room table is covered in stuff, and the sewing studio... omigoodness, it's like a fabric bomb exploded in there....

Mom's excuses are 1. She just finished the big quilt for Julie. 2. She just finished her little quilt for the Doll Quilt Swap. 3. It was her & Mim-may's birthday last week. 4. Mim-may was in the hospital. 5. It's been wicked HOT. 6. The new chill chest sucked up a lot of time...

I do have to admit she hasn't forgotten ME... Fresh stinky goodness and a nice bowl of water every day, fresh crunchies to nibble on, treats at my regular time, and scritches whenever I ask... so she isn't a complete failure.

Thank goodness.

Tuxie Tuesday

Finally. My blog is mine again!Mom went out hunting for me and came back with bags full of stinky goodness, treats, Breeze pads and pellets for my two litter boxes and she got me a nice new scratching pad. I love it.

Woo Hoo!

I love my Mom, no matter how much I tease her, I love her lots and lots.

Monday

Mom went to a butterfly place yesterday. (I was not invited. I'm still hiding in all the cool spots.) She saw many butterflies and took many pictures. The butterflies were too fast for her most of the time. But not always. This one, an Emerald Swallowtail, is from Southeast Asia and was about 3" across.

Mim-may is home, happy, and resting. That's a really good thing. Thanks for all your purrs and purr-ayers!

Birthday Update!

Happy Birthday, Mim-may!

This is Mr Karate and Mim-may. Mim-may is feeling much better, and will get to go home later today if her blood passes a test. (Dunno how blood can take a test...)

Mim-may is coming home today!

After Mom took this picture, Mr Karate said, "Mim-may, why don't you get dressed?" So she did. Here are the Red Velvet Cupcakes that Mom made for the party. Mim-may passed them around to the nurses on the floor, and Mim-may's doctor even came by and had one!Mr Karate brought Mim-may some flowers. Me, I'm not big on flowers (I prefer 'Nip), but even I can see this is a hum-dinger of a bouquet. Mim-may was very happy.
A good time was had by all, and it will be a birthday party nobody will ever forget!
(from left, Mr Karate, Mim-may, Mom, Pip-pay.)

As for me... I'm fine. I'm camping out in all the cool places and not letting Mom take pictures of me!

Heh.

Bad News, Good News

The Bad News came early yesterday. Mim-may had a blood clot in each lung! This is very serious indeed. It meant Mim-may would be staying in the hospital for at least two more days.

She called Mom yesterday afternoon, "When you come, could you please bring me something decadent?"

Mom knew JUST what to bring to Mim-may. Some Evil Little Chocolates.

The Good News came after dinner last night. They were moving Mim-may from the Cardiac ICU to a different part of the hospital where Mim-may didn't have to wear a wire all the time.

Yippee!

Today is Mim-may's birthday! Mom has made some Red Velvet Cupcakes (pictures to follow) and the Family will gather at the hospital later today to celebrate. We'd all rather she was home with Pip-pay and Missy-the-Woofie, but it's okay.

Happy Birthday Mim-may!

Mim-may Update

Thank you so much for purring for Mim-may. Mim-may is taking medicine to dissolve that nasty clot, and the doctors say she is doing well, but they want to keep her so they can watch her.

Mom went to see her at the hospital yesterday. Mim-may would much rather be at home (who wouldn't!) but considering the alternative, it's okay. She says she has things to do!

Mom brought her some magazines and a book to read, and anything else she needs, Mom will get for her.

Mom wanted a Red Velvet Cake for her birthday, and she and Mim-may decided that they would celebrate both their birthdays this coming Saturday (Mim-may's birthday).

If Mim-may is still in the hospital on Saturday, Mom will make Red Velvet Cupcakes and bring them to the hospital. The family (including Auntie Karate, PlusOne, Mr Big, Pip-pay, Mr Karate and Mom) will go to one of the hospital's lounges and have the party.

I'm still gonna purr. If my Mom loves her Mom the way I love Mom, that's a lot, and I want Mim-may to get better REAL soon!

Purr-ayers Please!

Millie's Mom, Lynne here. This is my mother. She's been tired a lot lately and went to her doctor yesterday for some tests. Turns out she has a pulmonary embolism and was admitted to the hospital last night, where she will likely stay a few days. It's good she's in the best place possible. It sucks she'll be in the hospital. We had planned to have our birthday cakes together on Saturday, which will be her 77th birthday.

Can you please send her some purrs, purr-ayers and positive vibes so she gets well soon?

Thanks. And thank you all for the lovely birthday wishes yesterday.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Happy Birthday Mom!

This is Mom with the coming home quilt she made for Mooshie!
(she's not quite older than dirt, but she's getting closer...)
I love you Mom.
Really!
Really, really!

Whole Lot of Nuthin' Going On

While Mom was making dinner for herself last night, the weather guys interrupted the wheelie game she was watching to warn everybody about bad crack-and-boom storms with tornado warnings! We weren't in that area, but Mom could see we were gonna get a lot of rain, so she turned the computer off.

When it got dark and rainy and the wind started blowing the rain against the windows, I was a little bit freaked out, but I sat next to Mom and she petted me. I felt better.

Afterwards, she ate her dinner (I had eaten my stinky goodness much earlier) and then sat down and read a book! No sewing, no computer, no pictures.

Just a whole lot of nuthin' going on!

Millie Monday

You know your Mom is really weird when she picks the stupid leafy green stuff from her garden, and puts in on her desk at her day hunting gig. She says a bouquet like this is almost better than flowers.

Get this... there is Parsley, Rosemary, Time, Sage, Oregano, Tie and Jenn-o-vay-see Basil, Mint and even some Catnip!

Who's she kidding? Time doesn't live in a bottle, and it doesn't grow in pots either. I know she's good at a lot of things, but this is just.... strange.

Once again, I have to say how glad I am to be a cat!

Easy Like Sunday Morning

Mom's finally finished that quilt she's been working on for the last month. Finally she can take it easy and relax.

Like me.

Sticky Saturday!

I'm fine. Mom's just too hot to think.

(or help me blog, apparently.)
Her birthday is next week, and she wants a Red Velvet birthday cake with Cream Cheese frosting. (this won't happen unless she bakes the cake herself, which she very well might do.)

She wants it to be sunny, dry and about 80F. (she might get that)

She wants Monty's fambly in attendance. (I'm not sure I have enough magic to pull this off.)

She wants a clean house. (that'll never happen.)

She wants to be 5 pounds thinner. (yo! Mom, ain't gonna happen if you eat that CAKE!)

Funny lady. Too hot to blog, not too hot to wish.

Hmmm. Think I need a nap to ponder this.

Thursday Thoughts

This is the picture Scout was talking about yesterday. It shows the love between Mr Karate & Gizzy. Gizzy was 10 when this picture was taken. Here's another one taken at the same time. You can tell these two love each other.

Gizzy is The Cat Who Came Before. He is now frolicking at the Rainbow Bridge. We miss Gizzy.

Almost Wordless Wednesday

This is one of Mom's favorite pictures of Mr Karate. Mom got a couple of old dead laptops from her day hunting gig, and one weekend she and Mr Karate reassembled them into one working laptop running something called Lee-nux.

Every time Mom looks at this picture, she smiles.

Tuxie Tuesday

This is my hideout. Mom attached a shelf to the seat of this orange stool when she noticed it was the same height as the windowsills. The shelf rests on the windowsill, so I have a nice big place to nap and watch the world go by. There's a colorful old beach towel on the shelf, and on top of that is a Gizzy quilt.

Millie Monday

Wowza! Mom brought me -more- fresh 'Nip!

Sunday, July 11, 2010

Super Sunday

I know I tease my Mom. I know I tell you all she isn't as smart as a cat. I tell you she forgets me.

I know she takes great care of me, and I have a good life.

But today, I have to eat my words. Because today, Mom did something that makes up for everything.
She gave me some fresh cut 'Nip right out of her garden.Yes, it was THAT good.
Now if she would just leave me alone to enjoy it in peace...

Hot and Sticky

It's not as hot as it was all week, but it's sticky today. It might rain. Mom would like that.

Here's what she just picked in our garden. There is fresh basil, parsley, lettuce, some baby roo-gala trimmings and yes, that is a strawberry! Mom has also planted green beans, tomatoes and peppers along with a bunch of other stupid green leafy stuff.
Me? I'm hiding out, keeping cool.

Formerly Feral Friday

We still have the Hots, and I am spending a lot of time right here, in front of the air colditioner. Yet another one of the benefits of being formerly feral.

Trust me, I am very well aware of how lucky I am!

smoochies!

***Hey gang, could you all send some purrs and positive vibes to my friend Missy-the-Woofie? She's feeling poorly, and has inflamed bowel disease. Missy is Mim-may's woofie, and she's a very special girl. Thanks!

The New Chill Chest

I like A Few Good Cats' term, chill chest. So that's what I'm gonna call it from now on. What can I say about it? It's white, it's new, and it's big.

The new chill chest arrived almost three hours late yesterday. The lord of land was here and he was on his cell phone every other nap. It was hot and sticky, and I was hiding out under the bed.

When the new chill chest finally got here, they took the doors off both ends of the hallway, then they took to old coldbox away. What was left was a big mess, which Mom did her best to clean before the guys rolled in this big white beast.

That wasn't enough. They took the handles off, and put them on the other side, so Mom could open them the way she wanted, turned the thing on, and left (finally.)

That was when my Mom turned into a whirling dervish. She opened the coolers and started filling the thing right up, emptying all the coolers. When she got to the cooler with the frozen meat, she even added the big bags of ice.

Then she went day hunting.

The thing is still nekkid. No pictures, no magnets, nothing on top. The furniture is still in the wrong places, and the hallway is still empty. Mom's got a lot of werk to do and given the heat and general stickiness, I don't think much is gonna get done any time soon.

For once, Mom is acting like a cat! Yay, Mom!

What's Up Wednesday

I keep telling you Beans are weird. Wait until you hear this story...

The hallway is EMPTY! Mom moved the big table in the table room to one side of the room. She brings in four funny boxes. She calls them COOLERS! There is NOTHING cool about them, I tell you! They smell very unusual, to say the least.
It's the hottest day of the year, and what does my Mom do when she gets home from day hunting last night? She takes all the magnets, and pictures and notes, and coupons OFF the coldbox! All the pictures of Mr Karate, and PlusOne, and Mooshie! GONE!

Then she opens the cold box and starts throwing stuff away!

I am not kidding! She's got the door wide open and there's stuff coming out... old onions, dried up lettuce, moldy cream cheese (dunno what that is, and I don't care).
Then she moves to the freezer, and starts emptying the ice cube trays. She puts the ice in zipper plastic bags and then empties out the dried bread, piling up the bags of six million different kinds of nuts, stacking up the bags of frozen fruit and vegies.

"It's gotta go, Millie, I can't eat it, so it's gotta go.."

Go? Why would any bean, even a crazy bean throw away good foods? Mom, that's your FOODS in there... Are you gonna STARVE to death? (O, the horror... what will happen to ....me?)

The ice cream, the frozen popsicles, the sor-bay (dunno what that is either), all going.

Why does it have to go?

The cold box is going away.

Excuse me? I said to Mom. Going where?

"Away. They're coming to take it away this morning. And a new cold box will be coming to take it's place."

Mom has to take everything out, put it someplace so it doesn't go bad...

(Now, dunno about you, I know there is
good food and not so good food, but good food going bad? That just sounds... wrong.)

...and then put it in the NEW cold box when it gets here.

On a day when it's so hot I'm practically melting, and I haven't even had breakfast!

Do you think maybe the lord of land is silly enough to want to bring Mom a NEW coldbox on the hottest day of the year?

Well, I guess.

I told you beans were weird.

I think I need a nap... in the air-colditioned bedroom.

The Hots - Update at 5 PM

The Hots are here. In this picture Mom took, you can hardly see the red in the thermometer, but you have to believe me, it was almost 98F out! Mom kept the blinds closed most of the day to keep the sun out.
I am finding all the cool spots to nap.

UPDATE! This picture was taken at 5 PM today, and remember, this thermometer is in the shade!

Watch This!

Mr Karate came over for dinner last night, and showed this to Mom and me. We thought it was very interesting!

Beans sure are weird.

Happy Fourth of July!

This is some cool patriotic fabric Mom saw on eQuilter. If you live in the USA, you should check out Google's home page today. There is a Rube Goldberg Google Doodle that actually works!

Happy Fourth of July! Happy Independence Day!

My Heart Belongs to Monty Q!

Dear Henry,

I appreciate your attention. I really do. But my heart (my furs, my ears, my tail & my tummy) belong to my sweetie Monty Q.We have been together several years, and are truly a couple.
See... we even have a special quilt that proves it!

I am sorry I cannot return your feelings.

Formerly Feral Friday

Mom has to hunt the ever elusive Month End today.

I will relish the day napping and doing whatever I want, safe in the knowledge I am -formerly- feral.

Thursday

I yakked up a couple of huge hairballs last night, along with some stinky goodness. Yech. That felt awful, and now I need to rest.
