Temptations Thursday

Every night at snack time I have to MEOW to remind Mom it is time for my treats. I always get a lot of them. She is moderately well trained, although the last few weeks she has been a dismal failure at many things.

I haven't been visiting as many pals as I would like, and I haven't been able to leave as many comments. On the other paw, I have been getting lots of cuddle time. I make sure she sits in the recliner after dinner so I can sit next to her and get petted. I guess it works out.

Yo Monty! Honey! Mom will be gone to her day hunting gig today to hunt the elusive Month End and the extremely rare Year End. She'll be working late! C'mon over and spend the day with me! We'll have the house to ourselves, and it will be nice and quiet. No slobberhounds, no moochie babybeans, no noise. So what are you waiting for? It's New Year's Eve!

Tuxie TV Tuesday

I was watching TV with Mom. Really and truly. I was sitting right next to her, but then this show came on.

It was fascinating.

I just had to get closer.

Monday Funday

Mr Karate gave Mom this penguin shaped thing. Mom says it's good for pancakes too, but she wanted an egg for breakfast yesterday, so here is a penguin shaped egg. Go figure.
But that wasn't the most unusual thing that happened. This is.This is our friend Red. Mom says Red is a Geek of the Absolute Highest Order and that seeing her do this (she was kneading bread) is Very, Very Unusual, and that everybody who knows her is gonna fall down and faint when they see this picture. Red says it might ruin her reputation.

Hey, she gives me treats and pets me, I think that makes her sixty-three kinds of Awesome. Mom thinks Red is nine hundred sixty-three kinds of awesome no matter what.

That's what's nice about friends.

Easy Like Sunday

Remember I told you about Homer? Well, Mr Karate got Mom his book (Homer's Odyssey) for Christymas, and we have been reading it together.

Hey Mom! Get back here! We're not done reading yet!

(honestly!)

Boxing Day

Happy Boxing Day everybody!

It was a very happy Christymas Day! Mr Karate & his friend Rhette were here Christymas Eve, and Mom made dinner, and they all stayed up late yakking. Yesterday everybody went to Mim-may's & Pip-pay's and a good time was had by all. Last night Mom and Rhette watched the movie UP. I got lots of pets and scritches, and Santa let me some nifty toys and treats.

Happy Birthday KidBean

One of my most favorite-est little sticky people is having a birthday today. This is Monty's KidBean. Today he is 7. (I also happen to think he is furry cute.)

Happy Birthday to You!
Happy Birthday to You!
Happy Birthday dear KidBean!
Happy Birthday to You!

Tattle Tale Tuesday

Many many years ago, Mom noticed this orange stool was almost the same height as the windows here. But it was only big enough for one cat. So she put a big piece of masonite on it, and made a big window shelf. She put an old bath towel on it and it became a primo napping spot for Gizzy and Jasmine. (That's Gizzy in the photo.)

It's still here, and it' still a great napping spot.So what's out there in the early morning? Not much.

Millie Monday

Winter starts today, although nobody would know it! Lots of my pals got lots and lots and lots of snow yesterday. We got less than one paw's worth here, as you can see from this picture Mom took yesterday after it was over.Monty's MomBean actually said the snow that fell at their house is mine and I should go and get it.

-snort-

Right!

Dream on!

Uh-huh!

I don't think so!

When Hell freezes over!

Nope!

No can do!

Ain't gonna happen.

It'll melt on its own. In due course.

Heh.

What Snow Sunday?

Can you see the difference in these two pictures (aside from the sky?)

This first one was taken on Saturday morning.
The next one was taken this morning, Sunday.Can you see any new snow?

Me neither. Usually, when there is talk about a big Nor'Easter, we get lots of snow, wind, and drifting. As everybody knows, a big storm started in Florida on Friday, dumped lots of snow on Mary-land, Furr-ginia, Filla-delfia and Noo York. It was in Beantown this morning.

Here in southern New Hampster were supposed to get 6 inches, then 4 inches, then 3 inches, now maybe an inch of snow.

Mom says if you live in Noo England, if you don't like the weather you should wait a minute. Look what started while I was writing this blog post.
OK, that's it, I'm going to hide under the Christymas tree...

BeCareful What You Wish For...

Remember how yesterday I was hoping to convince my Mom to give the hot-as-hell-box s workout? Well, I think sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for. Lookit this! Mom's been throwing eggs around. It must be some kind of stress relief. I think it's working; Mom's feeling better.

I just have to make sure we don't run out of eggs!

PS, if you are in the "mid-Atlantic" region of the US, I hope you are staying safe in the snow. (We are only supposed to get a little bit - maybe 4 inches.)

PPS, Mom admits to being fumble fingered. I did -not- lick any of that egg. Eew.

Fantastic Friday!

Mom -says- the store where she usually food hunts didn't have any of my favorite stinky goodness last time she was food hunting, so she got me a different flavor. That's why the stinky goodness stash was down to only two cans. (I did have the stuff that Derby sent me as part of my Secret Paw.)

Lookit!Mom came home from day hunting last night with a whole bag full of my favorite stinky goodness!

(she also bought stamps)

Thanks to everybody who commented yesterday with words of support. I'll try to give Mom as many cuddles as I can, and make sure she takes time to enjoy the Christymas season. Maybe I can convince her to give the hot-as-hell-box a workout.

All I Want For Christmas

Actually, all I want for Christmas is Mom.

You see, she's been day hunting so hard that she gets home very, very tired. (I wonder sometimes just what she's hunting.)

She doesn't do much. She makes dinner, and is too tired to clean the pots and the pans. (so I can't just jump on the counter any time I want.)

She sits in the recliner and watches stupid stuff on the picture box. (She doesn't play with me as much.)

She hasn't worked in the sewing room since before the Big Turkey. She yawns great big yawns. So big she looks like a lion. (I wonder if she'll swallow a fly?)

She hasn't put any presents under the Christymas tree. She hasn't mailed the stack of Christymas cards she has. (Too busy to buy stamps.)

The hot-as-hell box hasn't had a workout yet. The Christymas stockings are -empty-. (Even mine)

My stash of stinky goodness only has two cans left. (Two).

I dunno what got into my Mom (or what has gone out of her), but I want my busy, noisy, energetic Mom back. (I don't think that's too much to ask.)

(I don't want to run out of stinky goodness, either)

The Last Leaf Falls Contest Winner....

The Last Leaf Falls Contest is over, and the winners are....
(drum roll please...)

Scooby, Shaggy & Scout!

a prize package of goodies will go out to you... (but you gotta send me your snail mail address... email me at darlingmillie AT gmail DOT com!)
Concatulations!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This package of red and white wrapped goodies, though, is going someplace completely different.
There's all kinds of good stuff in it. I have checked it all out. I have sniffed everything very thoroughly and have rubbed my special scent all over it. I've made sure it's got lots of L-O-V-E in it. It is a-o-k and ready to go to....
HAHAHA! I'm not telling! It's a SECRET! I am learning how to keep secrets, and I think it is FUN!
Happy Day!
PS, We will be posting pics to the Secret Paw blog, but Mom has had two days from aich-eee-double hockey sticks at her day hunting gig, and she's been coming home very, very late, and very tired. She's needed lots of my best cuddle time to recover.
Secret Paw Tuesday!
I got my Secret Paws package, and it was from Derby! I got 'Nip, stinky goodness, treats and toy mice! I got a Nip Ravioli!
Derby & his Mum even included a mug and some cat-themed fabrics for Mom. Pawesome!
Thank you Derby, thank you, Derby's Mum!
(Where was I in yesterday's picture? Nowhere! Mom was taking pictures, and she thought I was under the tree, but when she turned around, there I was behind her! HAHAHAHA!)
Snow Drive
Mr Karate & PlusOne had a recital 45 miles away yesterday afternoon. In the middle of it, it started to snow. Mom drove home in it, and the roads were rather slick. Her metal masheen slid around a little bit. When she was 16 miles away from home, it started to rain, and after a mile or two, the roads were just wet, and Mom felt much better.
After dinner she finished this skirt for the Christymas tree. Now I'll have something soft to sit on when I hide under the tree. Can you see me?
Of course not!
Heh.
Christymas Tree!
Mom's finally got the Christymas Tree all set up and decorated. I helped with the lights.
I helped with the ornaments.
Yup! She couldn't have done it without my help!
Saturday Caturday
Things are looking up...Mom added more branches to the tree, and bought the new Straight No Chaser Christmas album for her iPod. She loved the Christmas Can-Can.
And you really, seriously, absolutely, positively have to check THIS out:
Bad Words
You should have heard the bad words Mom said when she got home last night and saw the heavy wet snow in the driveway. She couldn't get in. She had to park in the lot next door and shovel the wet heavy snow by herself. (She's really too old to do that.) Finally she called Mr Karate and asked for help. He came over with PlusOne and they got Mom's metal masheen in the driveway.Mom was happy, but totally exhausted.
She paid the boys for this with cups of warm cocoa.
Such a deal!
As you can see, my "header" has been spruced up for the Holidays. thanks to Zoolatry for the beautiful work. Ann also made the lovely Christmas Memories images of Gizzy and Jasmine, both of whom are now at The Bridge.
THE BEST THING.... (not the lightning and thunder last night while it was raining) was the Meezers naming the four letter S word "snot." Every time Mom thinks of it, she laughs.
Four-Letter Word Wednesday
S... s... s... sn... sn...
I simply can't bring myself to say it.
Tattle Tail Tuesday
Mom had to go to the human vet last night and get a special test lady beans get. It starts with the letter "M" and Mom says all ladies will know what it is. She says it is only slightly better than going to the dentist. Dunno what that means and by the sound of it I don't really care.
After the test, Mom came home and made herself dinner and then sat down to finish her book. No Christymas decorating. I spent some time exploring the tree again, but when I am in that big box and hear movement, I jump out VERY VERY FAST, so no pictures.
Heh.
PS. Mom regrets we will not be able to send out many Christymas cards this year. Mom says it's the e-con-omy. We have received some lovely cards though, and we want to thank you all.
Millie Monday
It's cold out. Colder than usual, and it will be for the next few days. We might have more of the S-word. It looks like there are still leafs on the tree, so Cats, Goats, Quotes, you have not won the Last Leaf Falls Contest. A few days ago somebody asked what would happen if the leafs fell after December 16. Mom screwed up my answer last Friday. She wrote "if they fall before Dec 16, oh well." I meant for her to say "if the leafs fall after Dec 16, oh, well." Beans are so inferior to Cats. My apologies, dear friends.I've been continuing to inspect the Christymas decorations. Mom didn 't make much progress yesterday, but we did get my Secret Paws package ready. It will go out to the man in the bloo shorts today. In the meantime, I get to nap in the tree without her having a complete coronary.Heh.
Snowy Sunday!
Yup! It started snowing yesterday afternoon, and it snowed off and all all evening. There are still clumps of leafs on the tree. Now they have snow on them.To get out of her funk, Mom started decorating for Christymas. The big box with the Christymas tree is up from the dungeon, so naturally I had to examine it closely.
Very closely.And then there was all this other stuff...Can you see my Holiday Gizzy? After all that work, I needed a nap. Here's my new favorite napping spot. That's my pink blankie, and the basket is the one Gizzy used to nap in every day.
Saturday Caturday
Sea Three Pee O, there are still leafs stuck to this tree. You will not win the Last Leaf Falls Contest.
Mom's a bit blue. She had a fantastic week last week, what with all her friends and fambly visiting, and all that cooking and eating... Now they are all gone, and she is moping around a bit.
I have told her to Get Going! Christsymas is right around the corner, and she has to start getting ready. Our Santa has already come up from the dungeon, and she needs to decorate the house. I need to frolic through all the stuff and make messes!
She has already bought little presents for KidBean and SweetBean, and she needs to wrap them up and give them to the Man in Bloo Shorts. I know that once she Starts Going, she will be fine, so I have my work cut out for me today.
Toodles!
Friday Facts
Here is the tree today. It -appears- to have lost some leafs, but there is still a very stubborn bunch clinging to some of the higher branches, as you can see in the detailed photo below:
So, the contest continues. Nobody picked today, so while we have no winner, we do not have a loser.
I have some Friday Facts to correct some misconceptions, as indicated by some of the comments on yesterday's post.
1. I always liked being petted, but I didn't -ask- to be petted.
2. Gizzy -always- loved being petted, and sat in anybody's lap when he was a kit, but once he turned one, no laps for him. That lasted about 7 years, until Mr Karate went away one summer. Toward the end of the summer he got so lonely he climbed into Mom's lap, and was a lap cat the rest of his life.
3. Mom was (and still is) reading The Friday Night Knitting Club. No spoilers, please.
4. The Last Leaf Falls Contest will end on December 16, the last date chosen. Those last leafs will fall, but it might not be until Spring, when New Leafs take their place. If the leafs fall before then, oh well!
5. I still don't sit in anybody's lap.
6. Mom has picked me up exactly twice. First time was the moment we met, way back when. The second time was my last visit to the v-e-t. We were waiting for Dr. L, and I was on that metal table you all know about, trembling. Mom picked me up to try to soothe me. I let her hold me for about fifteen seconds then started wiggling. Mom put me down.
7. Pip-pay is home from rehab, and is walking around with a cane!
Take Me Back Thursday
I sure bet the Meezers would like to be the winners of the Last Leaf Falls Contest, but anybody who looks at the tree can see there are still some leafs clinging to it. I am sorry, Meezers, but today is not the day. You are not the winners of the Last Leaf Falls Contest.
It's raining today, and might be a bit windy. Maybe the wind will knock off all the last leafs. Several of Mom's friends and fambly members who were visiting over the Turkey Day Holiday said Mom should just "call it" and decide the contest was over. Mom and I feel that Fair is Fair, so we will continue the contest until the last leaf really does fall or until December 16.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Some of you might remember this picture of me, taken three years ago. I was trying to tell Mom that I was NOT interested in "this petting business." (I was such a young, innocent little kit.)

Mom got home last night and as soon as I finished eating I let her know in No Uncertain Terms that I felt neglected, and that she had to SIT so I could get the cuddles, scritches and attention I have been missing these last few days.

She SAT.

I climbed in next to her, and got my scritches. Woo hoo!

In fact, she SAT for most of the evening. Several hours, in fact. She read a book, and only got up to have some spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. (Of course I got some.)

Wordy Wednesday

I can still see dried leafs stuck to the tree across the street. ML & KC, dear friends, you are not the winners of the Last Leaf Falls Contest. I am really getting tired of this tree. I have decided that unless the leafs GO AWAY, we will only post pictures of the tree on December 3, 5, 7 & 16, the last dates chosen as possible Last Leaf Dates.

This is Mom and her friend, D. They have been email pals for about ten years; have spent the last couple of days together and had a blast. Yesterday they went for a walk at The Mall and then went to the store that sells the Evil Little Chocolates that DKM and others have raved about. They've been yakking about quilts and stuff. Having a grand time. Today Mom's going to show D & A her day hunting spots, and then they will be flying home to Catifornia.
Finally I can have my own Mom all to myself. Company is nice, but I like my regular routine.
