Thundering Thursday

Mom doesn't get out of bed in the morning when her squawkbox starts squawking. So I help.

I play Thundering Herd of Elephants. I run from the Sewing Room, through the Dining Room, into Mom's Bedroom and up onto this desk, then I turn around and run back to where I started. I do this two or three times.

I always pause for a moment on the desk to make sure she knows it's me. And I make as much noise as I can. When she reaches over and hits the squawkbox to stop it from squawking, I know she is awake, so then I jump onto her bed and approach her quietly. I let out a couple of tiny little mews, but I don't let her pet me. After all, the idea is to get her UP, so she can give me some stinky goodness!

If she still doesn't get up, I go over and scratch the wing chair. This always makes her shoot right out of bed. Of course, by the time she is upright, I have thundered back to the sewing room!

Then I go back into the bedroom and MEOW for all I am worth. She puts on her slippers and her bathrobe, but I don't stop MEOWING until she has made it to the kitchen and has put down a nice bowl of fresh stinky goodness for me.

Heh!

Millie,
I have thought for some time that your mom and I are long lost sisters as we are a lot alike. Now I am convinced that you and Rusty are soul mates, at least in the furry alarm clock department and your mutual affection for stinky goodness. Rest up for tomorrow morning.
Love,
Deborah

We do some thundering elephants of your own, but we're nowhere near as talented as you Millie!

Angel has her own variation of this game ~ and it works at our house, too!

Good Millie!!

That's a lot of work. I just jump on the momma's head =)

Killian here -

I just jump on the bed and touch her nose with my paw! That usually works...

Barney is just starting to learn what the squawkbox means in our house - so I am going to keep him from reading this to get any bad ideas - but it is very funny!

Miss Millie, your morning routine sounds like great fun. Especially the scratching part!!

Good job! What would she do without you?

Mum is pretty good about getting out of the sleepy spot when the sqauking box goes off. But there is a pattern here, and when I expect it to go off and it doesn't, then I try to wake her up.

Good job Millie!! If that stops working for you, you could always do what I do.....squee in Moms ear REAL LOUD at 0300 or 0400....waaaaaaaay before the noise box comes on..... I then get my crunchies....MOM is so easy to train ...... Big smoochies.....Oreo in "FURR"ginia

Impressive technique, Millie! Panda Bear's wake up routine involves kneading Mom's bladder region. Works every time!

That sounds like our routine ~ although Milo climbs on top of the bedroom television and pats the photo on the wall ~ that werks everytime.
