Finally Friday

We had about 8 inches of snow on Wednesday before it turned to rain at dinnertime. Then everything froze. It was really slippery walking and driving. I saw some Magical Sliding Cars. I am -so- glad I am an inside cat.

Mom has been stuck inside too. She has the creepy crawly crud and stayed home from day hunting the last two days. You know your Mom isn't feeling well when she ignores her favorite TV-watching activity (Tennis) and spends her day in bed.

She's back day hunting today, though, and she'll have to hunt the Month End tomorrow. She says she'll be back sewing up Gizzy Quilts on Monday.

White Wednesday

Not me, silly! Outside... see:

It's hard to believe temperatures were about 125F in Oz yesterday, where they are playing the Australian Open. It was barely 25F here!

Dragonheart & Merlin

Hi guys! Mom and I happened upon Dragonheart and his mom yesterday on the innernets! They haven't updated their blog since November 11 2008! They are ALL FINE (phew!), but their computer is having "major problems."

So you can all breathe a sigh of relief, our gentleman friend and his sib and beans are well and healthy. They do not know when the computer problems will be fixed though.

I thought this was the most terrific news and wanted to share!

Easy Like Sunday

I am playing with my nifty little 'Nip fortune cookie. Mom doesn't understand "Easy." Yesterday she did the Washing Machine Shuffle, went Food Hunting, dragged the Rug Sucking Monster around, and cleaned the Sewing Studio. She and Mr Karate went out to lunch and then Mom watched Tennis in Oz.

Way back in 2005, before I was even born, Mom read this book: Q & A. She loved it. Well, the [in]famous "They" made a movie based on it. Mr Karate & Mom will be going to see it.

I'll be napping, and taking it "Easy."

Formerly Feral Friday

As you all know, Mom has finished her Alphabet Sampler Quilt top. You didn't think it would get past me, did you? I inspected it quite thoroughly, and it passed. I take my Quality Assurance job very seriously. I made sure Mom sewed it together properly and that it was filled with love and happiness, good vibes and purrs. I am also making sure that it is covered in my special scent, because this quilt will fly to Tennis-see where it will be quilted, and I want to make sure it remembers where it really belongs. Here.

I have a lot of input about what goes where on Mom's quilt. At my behest, she included this emoticon in the piece that will be on the back. Because, you know, she needs to remember who's boss around here! Which is a heckuva big thing, coming from a formerly feral street kitty like me!

Once this quilt flies away for its visit to Tennis-see, Mom's vacation of sewing for herself will be over and she will be getting back to work on Gizzy Quilts. She has been planning something very special, and you're just going to have to wait to see what it is.

And oh, speaking of Tennis, the Australian Open is going on, so Mom's gonna be watching that too.

Through With Snow on Thursday

Mom says she is through with snow.

I guess this picture shows why.

There are two more months of winter left, so I guess she better toughen up.

I am so glad I am a cat.

Alphabet Sampler Quilt

Mom finished her Alphabet Sampler Quilt top yesterday. She was stuck inside because we had a half a Gizzy of snow! Did she spend time with me? Heck no, she worked in the sewing room. She didn't even go food hunting!

Do you think I'll get the attention I truly deserve tonight when she's back from day hunting?

I wish.

She says after she goes food hunting (she promised to get me some stinky goodness so I can't complain too much), she's gonna do her taxes.

What's taxes?

***(Note: Mom posted the wrong picture this morning, and couldn't replace it until she got home from day hunting. Sorry!)

Dancing Queen

Mom and went to her company's Holiday Party last night. Auntie Karate went with her. Mom says they are the Dancing Queens.

This morning she can hardly walk.

Go figure!

Sunny Saturday

No matter how cold it is outside, it's important to take advantage of sunny napping spots.

Goodbye Gil Grissom

Mom has been watching [the original] CSI since the very first episode. Last night she watched Grissom say goodbye.

When it was over she was dancing the happy dance of joy and squeeing like she's seen a squillion cute kittens.

Go figure.

Me, I waited for our usual playtime.

Patiently.

Tuxie Tuesday

I take my job as Quality Assurance Manager of the Bizzy for Gizzy Quilt Industry here very seriously. Here I am inspecting a 'Nip sachet that Mom made. This will soon be on its way to another tuxie girl like me. To say more would ruin the surprise...

Mom's Bread

Mom has -finally- posted her bread recipe over at her cooking blog, Cooks With Love.
I'm much more interested in Beef, Chicken and Temptations, but even I have to admit this bread makes the house smell really, really good.

I do know that Mr Karate and Roxy's fambly all love the stuff.

And Mom promises to work on the movie of me with my 'Nip Banana real soon.

Sure Mom.

Anything you say.

Right.

Oh-kay.

Uh-huh.I'm not holding my breath.

EDIT: I missed it, but yesterday, -59- Magical Sliding Cars slid into each other on a big highway nearby yesterday. The highway was closed for 4 hours. I saw the pictures, and it didn't look like fun at all!

Easy Like Sunday Morning

There's nothing better than a nice warm pile of laundry for napping! We're having that snowstorm that has already visited other cats. We are supposed to have between 5 and 9 inches. That's a bit taller than me!

Mom wants to put me in her Alphabet Sampler Quilt. I'm not leaving this nice warm napping spot.

Formerly Feral Friday

It's pretty cold out, we have crunchy snow outside. I am very happy I am an indoor kitty. I've been making sure Mom sits down so I can sit next to her and snuggle. She likes the new TV show Leverage and I sit next to her when she watches. She can see it whenever she wants, which is a good thing considering her bedtime is 10 of the clock.

Mom's got the picture box room and the kitchen clean. One of her goals for 2009 is to leave the kitchen clean after she uses it to cook. We'll see how long that lasts. She's also trying to lose some weight, and I'm in the same boat as Parker, when Mom's on a diet, everybody's on a diet! So I'm not getting as many treats as usual at treat time.

It could be a lot worse! I could have to live outside. Eek! Um, thanks Mom.

I think!

Wet Wednesday

We are having snow and ice and rain today. Yech. Mom says I might see some magical sliding cars go by, so I plan to sit in the window and watch. I don't know what magical sliding cars look like, but Mom says I will know when I see one hit something. That sounds like fun to me, but Mom says it isn't.

Mom's been working on her tippy-tappy laptop box for the last couple of nights when she gets home from day hunting. No sewing, no camera, no pictures. So it's been dull, dull, dull around here.

She did list some goals over at the Dreams with Deadlines blog. I think she forgot a couple. She wants to make her bed every morning, and leave the kitchen clean when she goes to bed each night, but she hasn't done either any day yet this year. Of course, the Christymas tree box is still up here, and she has a nice big pile of clean laundry that has to be folded and put away, and her desk is a mess. She did some sewing this past weekend on her alphabet sampler quilt, and there is all kinds of stuff all over her work table. Usually that's the one room she does keep clean.

So that's the news from here. I'm off to sit in the window and watch for those magical sliding cars she keeps talking about.

Millie Monday

Mom's taking a break and sewing on an alphabet sampler quilt for herself. You can check it out here. Otherwise she is trying to get the house back to normal after all the Holiday festivities. That means she's moving stuff around. I'm just staying out of the way.

I've also been trying to get her to sit down with me in the recliner so I can sit next to her. That's been working real well. And many of these cold winter nights, I sleep next to her too. I think in another month or so her stress level will be down to a 4 or 5. It's been hovering between 8 and 9 lately, down from 10 at the beginning of December.

Silly Sunday

This is one of those silly days where some things are just wrong, and some are strangely right.

This, for example, is just wrong: I mean, I know it's a fake tree and everything, but why can't it live inside all the time? It makes a terrific hiding spot. Like I said, this is pretty silly.

Everybody who has Mom's bread loves this kind. Mom says it has milk, butter and eggs in it. She doesn't know why it rises so big - bigger than any other kind of bread she ever makes, but it does. So again today, she made six loaves. Auntie Karate, Mr Karate and Mim-may all have dibs on these. I'm just a cat, and don't eat bread, but even I have to admit it smells really good.

(Mom hasn't forgotten about the movie with me and my 'nip banana, the prize package for LC, or that Mr Hendrix's mommy wants to learn how to quilt. And I haven't even told you about... oh, that's for another blog post!)

Holiday Over

The stockings have been taken down. The decorations are packed. The garlands have been taken away. The Christymas lights are gone. The Christymas cards we received from our friends have been taken down. Tomorrow Mom will take apart the Christymas tree and put it in its great big box. Then the Santa will go in his box, and then all the boxes with all the decorations will be taken down to the dungeon. Even my Holiday Gizzy Quilt has been packed away.

I told Mom to keep all the cards with pictures of our friends, and we will put them up in the sewing room later. Mom's going day hunting today to end the year. It's still really cold and windy here in New Hampster, so I'm going to find a nice warm place to take a nap.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

May your food bowls be filled with stinky goodness and crunchies, may your water always be fresh, may your napping spots always be warm, may you get all the scritches you ever want.

And don't forget to play Thundering Herd of Elephants in the middle of the night!
