Saturday To-Do List

Mom's working on this...and made this mess and this one in the process.
And while she is watching the Tennis, she does this...and this...and a little of this...while completely neglecting this...Fortunately, I have no such misguided notions.
Tops on my To-Do list is vote in Monty's Do-the-Q contest!
Make sure you go vote too!
Tomorrow is the last day!
Make your choice!
Support Monty Q!
(And vote for me!)

Wordless Wednesday (Almost)

I miss my sweetie, Monty Q. I hope he misses me as much as I miss him.

He has this to say about the invader. He said It is annoying and It is Tucker-ing out the kidbeans. He does not trust It. But he is bigger than It.

Hmm....

Tuxie Tuesday

Mom's sewing, and watching the Tennis.

I'm doing what I do best. Napping, and snoopervising.
Mom has added a gadget on the sidebar. It's "The List." If you are waiting for Mom to make you a quilt, you can check "The List" to see where it is in line. The most current project is at the top. Right now she is working on the Little Boy Quilt (and I am helping). What with the difficult month August has been, Mom figures she is about 2 - 3 weeks behind schedule.

Happy Birthday M..(Auntie Karate)!

Mom's hijacking my blog today, with good reason...

This is my sister, who you all know as Auntie Karate. She's 8 years younger than me, but she's taller than me. She had earaches the first three years of her life, and screamed bloody blue murder the whole time. She was incredibly curious and very smart. She was a real pain in the neck. She was the kind of person who would fall going up stairs. She had (and still has) her own opinions about everything, and has no problem expressing them. She's not interested in cooking, and will never give me a quilt block the size I ask for. She always makes it bigger, and it's never "square." ("You can fix it," she says.)

But if anybody... ANYBODY, says one negative thing about her in my range of hearing, well, they'll have ME to contend with, and I don't have a black belt...

My sister is The Bomb. She is Terrific. She is very generous and she has a heart of solid gold. She has her feet planted more firmly on the ground than a great many people I know. I trust her implicitly, and with my life. I have more fun with her than with anybody else.

She started taking karate lessons when she was 40. And let me tell you, she was a klutz of the highest order, so it was really hard. How many people undertake a new physically demanding activity at 40 which they know will require at least 5 years to master? Not many, I'll bet. But she persevered, because determination is one of the things she has in spades.

We get along very well, although you might not think so to listen to us. The ladies at the local fabric store refer to us as "the Bicker Sisters." We think that's hilariously funny.

I could tell you any one of a number of funny stories about her as she was growing up. But she'd just turn around and tell you something embarrassing about me, so I decided instead to tell you all how crazy I am about her, how much I love her, and how she's my very best friend. Plus I'd be wicked lonely without her.

Happy Birthday, Sweetie Pie! I love you very much!

Go on over to the Devil Dog and wish her a Happy Birthday!

Let's Hear it For Mo!

You Rock, Mo!

It's a Breeze!

What's missing in this picture?this stuff:
and the old litter box and big tin of kitty litter, and the silly mat.

It's official. I use the Breeze boxes. Yes, I have two of them, one in the litterbox room, the other is in the sewing room. I use them, Mom loves them.

Mom likes that it does not smell. Mom likes that there is no kitty litter tracked all over the place. Mom thinks it is easy to clean. Mom thinks the Breeze box is pretty.

So how did she get me to use it? Simple. She took DKM's advice. "Add more than one package of pellets, and remove the old boxes after a week."

Mom was also pleased to find the pellets and pads very reasonably priced at Wal-Mart.

Anybody want a Litter Locker?

PS! Monty Q is furry upset about a four-footed furry invader. He will post about It soon.

So Sew Saturday

After a rough week, Mom is sewing again. This is good. She's been ironing all week and she has a stack of fabric on the sewing table that is 3 inches high. Dunno what that means exactly, but she says you will all know.Do you think she is working on something she is supposed to be sewing? Well, she's NOT! She bought herself a pattern! She has been seeing this Bento Box Quilt
on the net lately and she thought it would be a good way to use up some scraps. (This one isn't hers, it's from Pink Chalk Studios.) You can see more pictures of Bento Box Quilts here and here and here and here. Here's what Mom has so far. Each big block is made up of 4 smaller ones. She says to make a big (bean) quilt she'll need at least 52 more of the big blocks.

Mom says the little experiment has helped her get back into her groove about sewing.

She has to go Day Hunting today too, to do the Month End junk. When she gets back, she'll be working on the stuff on The List.

Friday Forever Friends

Mom's Mim-may used to say, "God works in mysterious ways." Mom and Tracey got to meet because Tracey & Matt asked Mom to be Violette's godmother. They knew they would be friends.

With the tragedy of Violette's death, Mom went down to Mary-land again to be with Monty Q's family. Mom and Tracey got to meet Mom Robyn, too! Here are MomRobyn, Tracey, and Mom, Lynne. Everybody wore violet for Violette.

Tracey and Mom will be friends forever. Actually, that's not quite right. Tracey says we are part of their family. That's even better.

Wacky Wednesday

Mom says sometimes wacky things happen when you travel. This was certainly one of them. Mom and I were watching the guys splash around in the big bathtub on tv one night when all of a sudden this horrendous noise started blaring and a red light on the wall flashed over and over again.

Mom jumped up, slammed her tippy tappy lapbox closed, grabbed her cell phone, iPod, room key and purse, jammed the lapbox in its bag, checked she had her airplane boarding pass in it, grabbed me and left the room.

The noise was worse in the hallway. She walked calmly to the end of the hall and went down the stairs and outside to wait.About 10 minutes later, the fire trucks came, with their sirens blaring and their lights flashing. Everybody waited outside for over an hour while the firemen checked the building. There was no fire, but the fire alarm wouldn't stop and nobody could go back inside while it was blaring.

Finally, we were allowed back into the hotel. And if THAT wasn't weird enough, look what Monty's Mom did to me the next day:

I'm glad she had a good laugh about it.

Traveling Tuesday

I think I like traveling. I certainly like eating out. Here I am getting ready to go out to dinner with Mom and Mom Robyn.
At the restaurant, Mom Robyn let me try her Coke. BEEF! My favorite!BROCCOLI! Roxy's favorite! Ha ha ha! And real live dead shrimp! Max's favorite. But these were fried and SPICY! Not my favorite. These Ribs were very good. (Burp.) Excuse me.Studying the dessert menu. What to have, cheesecake, cookies, chocolate?Chocolate. It's a girls thing.(Yawn!) After that pawsome meal, I hit the sack early. The bed was nice and comfy, too.
